Like father, like son for gun forward Dale

Mullewa footballer Dale Wallam's 11-goal haul against Railways last Sunday continues a goal kicking tradition in his family.

Thirty years ago, his father Dave set a GNFL game goalkicking record of 23 against Brigades at Mullewa.

Ground records for most individual goals make an interesting mix.

At Dongara, the record of 12 was set by Jamie Joseph (Rovers v Dongara, 1996).

At Eadon-Clarke, the standard of 14 was set by Mike Lockman (Railways v Brigades, 1995).

At Greenough, the highest is 11 with a traffic jam of players sharing it.

Bevin Rose (Railways) did it twice — both in 1980.

There’s also Jim Sandy 11 (Mullewa v Rovers, 1985), Rod Joseph (Rovers v Brigades, 1988), and in 1998, both Ryan brothers — Darren against Chapman Valley and Bob versus Railways.

Dale Baynes also landed 11 (Towns v Rovers, 2006) and in 2011 Cory Foot completed the list (Railways v Mullewa) with Mullewa at Greenough as they had been banned from home games by the GNFL.

There has only been one game at Kalbarri, played earlier this year. Glynn Verbruggen set the inaugural record of seven (Northampton v Railways).

At Nabawa, the best of 17 is held by Rose (Railways v Chapman Valley, 1981) while at Northampton the highest is 14 held by Hawk Dale Williamson (Brigades v Northampton, 2014).

At the Recreation Ground, the highest is 13 set by Dale Baynes (Towns v Railways 2005).

At Wonthella, Baynes tops the list with 16 (v Rovers, 2006).

At the long-defunct Walkaway, Lionel Ash potted 11 (Northanpton v Irwin 1961) and in the last game played at Yuna, Barry Craine also landed 11 (Brigades v Chapman Valley, 1962).

GNFL leading goal scorers 2015: Dale Williamson (Brigades) 47, Dale Wallam (Mullewa) 40, Desmond Corbett (Towns) 30, Justin Monaco (Brigades) 29, Aaron Thomas (Chapman Valley) 29, Linton Merry (Mullewa) 26, Leith Teakle (Brigades) 24, Luke Dowling (Rovers) 24.
