A tip-off has led to an alleged seizure by Meekatharra police of methamphetamine and cannabis with an estimated street value of more than $5000 overnight.

Acting on information received from the public, officers executed a Misuse of Drugs warrant on a Meekatharra property about 10pm.

A search of a vehicle parked at the back of the property allegedly revealed an amount of cannabis and methamphetamine.

Police could not provide the weight of the substances but said the estimated street value of the methamphetamine was more than $3000, while the cannabis was valued at more than $2000.

Police say a licensed rifle and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were also found in the vehicle.

A 45-year-old Paraburdoo man is facing two charges of possessing a prohibited drug, with possible weapons charges pending further investigation.

Sergeant David Hornsby thanked the public for coming forward with information.

“In this instance information provided to us from the community has led to a significant seizure of drugs,” he said.

“We urge anyone with further information about illicit drugs in our community to contact Meekatharra Police Station or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.”
