Pair charged over car chase

A girl and woman have been charged over an alleged car theft and car chase through Geraldton suburbs at the weekend.

The alleged chase began about 9.25pm on Saturday when police spotted a stolen Nissan Patrol travelling along Chapman Road, Bluff Point.

Police activated their emergency lights and sirens, but the driver of the stolen vehicle allegedly refused to stop, leading police in a chase through several suburbs.

Police abandoned the pursuit when the driver allegedly drove the car through bushland in Utakarra.

The vehicle was allegedly located a short time later, abandoned at the address it had been stolen from.

Two females were later arrested nearby, after police cordoned off the area and called in the police dog.

Police said a man was still wanted for questioning in relation to the incident.

A 13-year-old Utakarra girl and an 18-year-old Moonyoonooka woman have been charged with on count of stealing a motor vehicle.
