Police believe they have identified a man whose body was found at Kalbarri National Park at the weekend.

A police spokeswoman said formal identification was yet to take place, but he is believed to be Harald Steiner, 50, of Austria.

She said it was believed Mr Steiner was working in WA at the time of his death and was holidaying in Kalbarri.

His body was found down a steep slope along the edge of a walking trail on Saturday.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Concerns for his welfare were raised when he failed to return to his short-stay accommodation.

Family have been notified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
