A beach south of Perth has been closed and remains on high alert after a shark bumped a surfer’s board.

Secret Harbour Beach was closed on Saturday morning after reports the shark, of unknown size and species, bumped the board about 40m from shore just before 10.30am.

Not long after, Surf Life Saving WA life savers reported another sighting at the same beach of a two-metre bronze whaler shark.

That shark was also about 40m from shore and was tracking south.

It is unclear at this stage whether it was two sightings of the same shark or two different sharks.

Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are monitoring the situation.

At 1pm, SLSWA advised patrols of the beach had concluded for the day and urged beachgoers to “adhere to all council signage”.

Another public report was logged from the other side of Long Point in Port Kennedy about 1.15pm.

The three-metre shark of unknown species was reportedly “very close to shore”, near Bayeux Avenue.
