Chad Warner: Sydney star buys house in Applecross to fuel speculation of WA move to West Coast or Fremantle

Sydney star Chad Warner has purchased a lavish home in Perth as speculation continues to rage around the West Australian’s future. Warner, who has played in two grand finals for Sydney, has long been linked to a move home to Perth to play for either West Coast or Fremantle. Now he has purchased a riverside home worth almost $2.9 million in Applecross. The sale was put through last week. The home is a four-bedroom, three bath property with a pool. The 23-year-old is set to be the hottest property in footy when his contract expires at the end of this season. The online advertisement for the home says its proximity to the Swan River is its biggest selling point in the “highly sought-after” suburb. “Positioned moments from the sparkling waters of the Swan River, this exceptional modern home presents a rare opportunity to secure a residence in one of Perth’s most highly sought-after locations,” the ad reads. “This property offers a lifestyle of unparalleled quality, featuring a thoughtfully designed open-plan layout that maximises natural light and incorporates picturesque atrium-style gardens. “This residence seamlessly blends contemporary luxury with peaceful, riverfront living.” The property had been sold most recently in 2018 and 2007. It had been estimated by Domain as being worth as much as $3.38 million. Warner was spotted in November playing golf with West Coast chief executive and former Sydney football boss Don Pyke and ex-Swans player Kieren Jack, who is now head of strategy at the Eagles. The West Australian’s The Snitch column also reported during last season Warner and his partner had spend time at a luxurious Perth hotel courtesy of Fremantle. Warner is not the only West Aussie star playing over east that wants to come home to Perth. Sources told The West this week Melbourne premiership forward Kysaiah Pickett is desperate to come home to WA and that the Dockers are the front runners to secure him. That comes after they also landed Richmond premiership gun Shai Bolton in a blockbuster trade deal. Warner has played 85 games for the Swans, including 25 last season and finished third behind Isaac Heeney and Errol Gulden in their best-and-fairest voting.
