VideoThe Hawthorn forward has become a victim of his own past.

Kara Antonio is set to write a new chapter at her beloved AFLW club, with the Dockers great set help guide Fremantle as an assistant coach for the upcoming AFLW season.

It comes as recently delisted West Coast forward Zac Langdon also joined Freo’s AFLW set-up as one of four new assistants to support coach Lisa Webb.

Antonio is among the most beloved players in Fremantle’s AFLW history, playing 47 games before retiring in 2022 and turning her hand to coaching the forward group at WAFL club Subiaco.

The inaugural Dockers captain and 2017 All-Australian said she was thrilled to be back at the club as backline coach.

“I’m feeling stoked to be back and I’m really excited to take the backline,” Antonio said.

“One of my best mates in Lisa Webb, and I love the girls, love the footy club and I’m really looking forward to hitting the ground running.

“I think I’ve got a lot to offer, but still have a lot to learn as well, so I’m looking forward to that learning opportunity from Lisa and the rest of the coaches.”

Langdon, who played 56 AFL games for GWS and West Coast before being delisted at the end of 2022, will assume the role of skill specialist and footy fundamentals assistant.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity for myself and I’m keen to take my learnings from my career and my time in coaching and translate that to the girls,” Langdon said.

“The time was right to really pursue my coaching and development... being able to provide that support for the girls on and off the field and develop their skills will be a huge focus.”

Long-time Peel Thunder mentor Mark Tilbury joins the Dockers as midfield coach, with ex-Eagle Matt Connell the new forwards coach.
