Danielle Laidley’s AFLW player ratings: Every West Coast Eagle and Fremantle Docker ranked after round 10

AFL expert Danielle Laidley runs the rule over every West Coast Eagle and Fremantle Docker after round 10 of AFLW. Here’s who starred and who struggled. FREMANTLE (v Bulldogs) 1. Mim Strom: 10 Best on the ground through work-rate and football smarts. Beaten in the hit-outs then starting to take the ball out of the ruck, with eight clearances and seven tackles. An amazing around the ground performance with nine marks, either supporting the defence, being the target for rebound 50 kicks or intercepting long kicks down the line. 2. Aisling McCarthy: 9 A superb performance, amassing 29 touches, eight clearances and nine inside 50s. Huge work-rate and a driving force. 3. Dana East: 8 Hard at it again in the contest with 18 touches, six clearances and 11 contested possessions. 4. Sarah Verrier: 7 Thirteen quality disposals on the wing. Was clean kept her width to gain uncontested possessions, using the ball well. 5. Gabby Newton: 6 Very busy in the first quarter with 10 disposals finished with 18 touches for the game. Her game is marked down with ball use, going at 33 per cent efficiency. 6. Megan Kauffman: 6 Quiet start then worked way into game being productive gaining 13 disposals, five tackles and 237m gained. Ball use inside 50 was quality. 7. Emma O’Driscoll: 6 Always desperate around the ball with tackles and six intercept possessions. Could have used the ball better coming out of defence. 8. Laura Pugh: 6 Quiet early, then built her game over the next three quarters. A very classy intercept mark which led to a goal. The third quarter she was very productive offensively. 9. Amy Mulholland: 6 Busy game for the pressure forward, seven touches, four tackles, three clearances and a class goal. 10. Ebony Antonio: 6 Led to the ball on the ground and in the air. Was really busy in the third quarter, finishing with 1.1 for the game. 11. Tunisha Kikoak: 6 Played second ruck and tall forward. Led and marked well in the second quarter for a goal. 12. Hayley Miller: 4 Scrappy at times with ball use. Did look rusty playing as a forward. Will be much better for the run leading into the finals. 13. Airlie Runnalls: 4 Was able to get into space gathering uncontested possessions as a small forward. 14. Joanne Cregg: 4 Nine touches and three inside 50s was productive, didn’t use the ball as well as possible though. 15. Orlagh Lally: 4 Quiet game for the winger, not touching the ball until midway through the second quarter. Finished with seven touches. 16. Gabby O’Sullivan: 4 Started well in the first quarter around the ball with clearances using her legs out of the contest. Much quieter in the last three quarters. 17. Jae Flynn: 4 Good attack on the ball, defended solidly across the game. 18. Madeleine Scanlon: 4 Quiet game when it came to intercepting and gathering the ball, but solid defensively across the game. 19. Jessica Low: 4 Solid defensively against a dangerous opponent, dropped her guarded to be turned inside out for a goal against. 20. Philipa Seth: 3 Didn’t get much of the football, but paid her way as a pressure forward with six tackles. 21. Gabby Biedenweg-Webster: 2 Couldn’t get into game offensively, but did make three tackles. WEST COAST (v Swans) 1. Isabella Lewis: 7 Battled hard in a badly beaten midfield on the day, worked in close in the contest and in transition supporting the defence. 2. Abbygail Bushby: 7 Best game of the year, winning 23 touches, keeping her width and supporting the defence as a winger. Moved to an inside midfielder role in the fourth quarter and was clean in the contest. 3. Sarah Lakay: 7 Worked extremely hard throughout the game with 37 hit-outs in the ruck. Her follow up in the clearances was great. She worked hard around the ground, marking the ball deep in defence, being a target out of defence. 4. Amy Franklin: 7 Made the most of opportunities presented, kicking three goals. Must bring ball to ground when not in a position to mark. 5. Charlotte Thomas: 6 Amassed 581m gained, mainly from kick ins. Had six intercept possessions, but like many West Coast defenders lost one-on-one contests against Sydney forwards. 6. Zoe Wakfer: 6 Never stopped trying, 11 intercept possessions, beaten in one-on-ones, must kill the ball and spoil on the last lie of defence. 7. Emma Swanson: 6 Struggled under pressure rebounding the ball from defence. Like other defenders, she was completely let down by midfielders transitioning to support defence, particularly in set plays. 8. Courtney Rowley: 6 Started very well early as an inside midfielder. Took a heavy hit with a clash of heads. Passed concussion protocols, coming back into the game and putting her body back in the contest. 9. Jaide Britton: 6 Spent a lot of time supporting defence, collecting ground balls and making spoils. Finished with 12 touches and six tackles. 10. Ella Roberts: 5 Worked hard through a tag in the first quarter with nine disposals, then quiet for the rest of the game with no real influence. 11. Jess Hosking: 5 Played with real intensity around the ball, gathering nine touches and making six strong tackles. 12. Mikayla Western: 4 Had moments working high up the ground where she was involved in chains of possession and was rewarded with kicking a great goal. 13. Roxanne Roux: 4 Played as second ruck and forward. Had two opportunities to kick goals, gaining two free kicks from ruck contests inside 50. 14. Alison Drennan: 4 Part of a midfield badly beaten in the contest and in transition, finished with 14 possessions and five tackles. 15. Sanne Bakker: 4 Eight big tackles from the pressure forward. Did go into the midfield late without out much influence. 16. Kellie Gibson: 4 A nearly game, did fumble, had missed kicks and tried to take on tackling with her six disposals. 17. Sasha Goranova: 4 Five possessions from 54 percent game time, let herself down with ineffective kicking. 18. Lauren Wakfer: 3 Played mainly as a tall forward target leading early, made a big tackle inside 50. Went into the ruck in the third quarter. Only played 54 per cent game time. 19. Georgie Clever: 3 Didn’t adjust positioning and got beaten on the lead many times. The midfield should have given more support. 20. Evie Gooch: 3 Struggled to contain Rebecca Privitelli on the lead and in marking contests. Another defender let down by lack of support from the midfield. 21. Belinda Smith: 3 Not able to influence the game offensively, but five tackles was a feature.
