Cavaliers show no mercy to injury-riddled Pelicans

Ty Jerome scored 27 points in the first half and finished with a career-high 29 as the Cavaliers notched a 128-100 NBA win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Jerome, starting in place of injured point guard Darius Garland, had 20 points in the second quarter on Wednesday night (Thursday AEDT) and buried seven three-pointers before halftime.

Australia's Luke Travers played 30 minutes for the Cavs, finishing the game with two rebounds, three assists and four points.

Georges Niang added 20 points, and first-round pick Jaylon Tyson had 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in his first pro start for the Cavaliers. Jarrett Allen had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Cleveland are off to the best start in franchise history with a 16-1 win-loss record.

Rookie forward Antonio Reeves scored 34 points and Brandon Boston Jr had 14 for the injury-riddled Pelicans.

Cleveland bounced back from a 120-117 loss in Boston on Tuesday and led by as many as 34 points to remain unbeaten through nine home games.

In San Francisco, Andrew Wiggins scored 27 points and Stephen Curry added 23 points and eight assists as the Golden State Warriors beat the Atlanta Hawks 120-97.

Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Buddy Hield contributed 11 points off the bench for the Warriors.

Jalen Johnson led the Hawks with 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Trae Young also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists.

Australian Dyson Daniels, who is having a stellar season for Atlanta, played for 31 minutes, racking up six rebounds, three assists and 11 points in a typically industrious display.

In Houston, Jock Landale took Aussie bragging rights when his Rockets proved far too strong for compatriot Johnny Furphy's Indiana Pacers, beating the visiting team 130-113.

Landale spent 13 minutes on the court for Houston, finishing with four rebounds, three assists and six points.

Furphy also managed six points for the Pacers, as well as one rebound from his 21 minutes of court time.

Alperen Sengun had a season-high 31 points with 12 rebounds to lead the Rockets' scoring.

The Rockets used a big run in the third quarter to push the lead to 21 points entering the fourth and cruised to their sixth victory in seven games.

Jabari Smith Jr added 23 points for the Rockets for his second 20-point game in the past four matches.

Quenton Jackson had a career-high 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting for the Pacers, who lost for the fourth time in five games.

In Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 41 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Bucks beat the visiting Chicago Bulls 122-106.

Brook Lopez scored 21 points, Damian Lillard had 20 points and 10 assists, and AJ Green added 18 points to help the Bucks win for the fourth time in five games following a 2-8 start.

Zach Lavine scored 27 points to lead Chicago. Torrey Craig added 15, while Nikola Vucevic and Coby White had 14 each.

Australia's Josh Giddey played for 26 minutes for the Bulls, making four rebounds, three assists and five points.

In other results, the LA Clippers won their sixth game in a row at their new arena, beating the Orlando Magic 104-93; the Memphis Grizzlies set a season-high with 19 three-pointers in a 117-111 win over the Philadelphia 76ers; the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Portland Trail Blazers 109-99; and the New York Knicks beat the Phoenix Suns 138-122.
