Competition newcomers Geelong United have secured their first WNBL win, defeating defending champions Southside Flyers 90-87 in a homecourt thriller.

Captain Keely Froling led the way at Geelong Arena on Thursday night, scoring 18 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding two blocks, while playmaker Haley Jones scored 19 points.

For the Flyers, Naz Hillmon impressed with 27 points and 10 rebounds as she tried to get her team over the line. However the Flyers have now opened their season with two losses.
