Stirling gets Cooked

Taylor CourtlandGeraldton Guardian

The arrival of import Carter Cook sparked the Geraldton Buccaneers to a 97-87 victory at Activewest Stadium on Saturday night over the Stirling Senators.

Cook, who arrived in Geraldton hours before tip off, scored 21 points while Robert Kampman and Daniel Thomas chimed in with 22 and 21 respectively.

A 21-11 run to finish the first half set up the Buccs’ victory which could have been by a bigger margin if not for the home team’s struggles at the free throw line.

They shot just 50 per cent from the strip, but shot 46 per cent from the field and out rebounded the Senators 56-42.

Hear from coach Ray Evans and Carter Cook in tomorrow’s print edition of the Geraldton Guardian.
