Emerging star Nikita Tszyu and former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker will co-headline a boxing double-header in Melbourne next month.

Tszyu will face rising Victorian pugilist Benjamin Bommber in what could be the toughest test of the popular super welterweight's fledgling career, as he takes on his fifth undefeated opponent in his sixth professional bout.

Tszyu (5-0, 4KO) returns to action after his dominant fourth-round TKO over Bo Belbin on the undercard of brother Tim Tszyu's successful interim world title bout in March.

Bommber (5-0, 4 KO), who has been training out of Floyd Mayweather's gym in Las Vegas, has linked up with undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney's team to prepare for the fight.

It has been more than two decades since the Tszyu family name headlined a program in Melbourne, with close to 30,000 witnessing Nikita's undisputed champion father Kostya dispose of Jesse James Leija at Docklands Stadium in January 2003.

Parker will feature in his first Australian fight for the Commonwealth heavyweight title against Faiga 'Django' Opelu on May 24.

Opelu (15-3-2, 11 KO) is a former Australian heavyweight champion who stopped the previously undefeated Hemi Ahio (20-1, 15 KO) in October.

"I'm very excited to be heading to Australia to headline a massive fight," Parker said.

"I look forward to the atmosphere from both the Aussie and Kiwi fight fans and I know everyone will be pumped to see two world-class heavyweights go at it.

"He (Opelu) is a great fighter and deserves his shot but there's levels to this game and I plan to show that. I'm not taking this lightly."

Meanwhile, Tim Tszyu is also expected to announce his next fight in coming weeks after his scheduled showdown with Jermell Charlo for the undisputed super-welterweight title was again postponed.

Charlo still hasn't sufficiently recovered from the broken left hand that initially forced their January 29 bout in Las Vegas back to mid-year.

Tszyu will instead defend his interim WBO title in Australia in June.
