58-year-old Mike Tyson lasted for the full eight rounds, but ultimately went down to Jake Paul in their highly-anticipated fight.

Paul was awarded the win on a points decision, with the two rivals embracing at the final bell despite plenty of acrimony in the lead-up.

All three judges scored the fight for Paul, with the scores 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

The fight was largely uneventful, and Paul appeared to show some mercy towards his legendary opponent in the final rounds.

The social media star did enough to win convincingly, while Tyson proved he could last the distance despite his advanced age.

“Mike Tyson, it’s an honour,” Paul said after the fight.

“He’s a legend and the greatest to ever do it. He’s the GOAT (greatest of all time)... I look up to him and am inspired by him.

“It was an honour being able to fight him. He’s the baddest man on the planet. It was really tough, like I expected it to be.”

Tyson, who didn’t rule out a return to the ring in the future, said he had proved to himself that he was still a force.

“I knew he was a good fighter and knew he was prepared,” Tyson said.

“I came to fight. I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself.

“I’m not one of those guys who tries to please other people. I only try to please myself.”

The fight was marred by controversy from a broadcast point of view, with viewers around the world complaining of buffering and lagging issues on streaming service Netflix.
