Perth Scorchers have added an Indonesian quick to their list under a partnership between WA Cricket and the nation’s governing body.

Ni Made Putri Suwandewi, a 26-year-old pace bowler from Indonesia’s national program, has been added to Perth’s list under the WBBL’s associate rookie rule.

It means Suwandewi — who is known as Tori — can play matches as a fourth international alongside New Zealand captain Sophie Devine, English batter Amy Jones and Indian Dayalan Hemalatha.

Devine and Hemalatha are both playing in a one-day international series between the two nations and are unavailable for Sunday’s season-opener against Melbourne Stars.

Suwandewi has taken 49 wickets at an average of just over eight and an average of less-than three in international cricket.

“I am very excited to be joining Perth Scorchers ahead of WBBL10, in one of the best Twenty20 competitions in the world,” she said.

“The WBBL has been a competition I have admired from afar for a long time, and I am looking forward to being involved as a player this season.

“The Scorchers have been a successful club for a long period of time, and I am excited to get to work with the playing group and coaches.”

WA Cricket is helping support the development of players, coaches and facilities under a deal signed with Indonesia last year.

Scorchers cricket boss Kade Harvey and coach Becky Grundy have spent time touring facilities.

It comes after the Scorchers confirmed the signings of ACT all-rounder Carly Leeson and former Sydney Thunder quick Ebony Hoskin to round out their list.

Australian World Cup players Beth Mooney and Alana King are expected to play their opening match on Sunday.
