Fremantle will unveil pre-season signing Isaiah Dudley in the western derby after the small forward was named to take on West Coast at Optus Stadium on Sunday just months after landing in the AFL.

Dudley was one of four inclusions alongside defender Karl Worner, veteran James Aish and ruckman Liam Reidy named in the extended squad, with Brandon Walker the only omission so far because of a shoulder injury.

“It was pretty crazy, I was in the gym and all the boys were there,” Dudley said.

“It’s pretty exciting, two WA teams and I’m keen to see what it’s like. I cannot wait.

“It has been pretty crazy and pretty hectic, I wouldn’t have thought in a million years that I would be getting signed and debuting in a derby.”

From Central Districts in the SANFL, Dudley signed with the Dockers in February through the pre-season supplemental selection period after training with them over the summer.

“Since you’ve got here you’ve worked your backside off,” coach Justin Longmuir said after the announcement to the players.

“The last two to three weeks at Peel you’ve been a pro at executing your role, but you’ve also been really selfless.

“You’ve been happy to bring your teammates into the game, at the right times you’ve hit the scoreboard. You deserve your opportunity.”

Dudley is the cousin of Melbourne star forward Kysaiah Pickett who is widely tipped to be a key target for the Dockers this upcoming off-season.

A crafty small forward, Dudley kicked 21 goals in 20 games last year for the Bulldogs while averaging 10 touches and three tackles.

Dudley has also been in good form for Peel Thunder, kicking three goals in two pre-season games including two against West Coast at the weekend.

“Isaiah Dudley’s pressure was really good,” Peel coach Adam Read to The West Australian at the weekend.

“That’s something he’s been working really hard on with Andrew Sturgess, the forwards development coach (at Fremantle) and I think the last two weeks, that’s shown.

“He kicked two again, I think he kicked two last week as well, and everyone will see the goals but it’s the work he’s put into that pressure side of his game that is really pleasing.”

Out-of-favour veteran defender Aish could play his first game of the season after also being named.

Aish has not played since round 21 of last season, having played 101 games for the Dockers since crossing from Collingwood in 2019.

The 29-year-old is likely to battle Worner — who was dropped after the round one smashing to Geelong — to come in to the side and replace Walker in defence.

Reidy was also dropped after the tough loss to the Cats and would come in if the Dockers decided to shake up their ruck structure for a third time in as many games.

Luke Jackson is set to once again lead the ruck and was backed up by Patrick Voss in the close loss to Sydney last weekend.

Dudley, Reidy, Aish and Worner have all been named on an extended bench alongside Matt Johnson, Josh Draper, Bailey Banfield and Voss with the team to be trimmed to 23 on Friday afternoon.

Dual Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe is still not in the AFL side and is almost certain to play a third consecutive pre-season clash for Peel Thunder when they battle Subiaco at Leederville Oval on Saturday morning.

Fyfe played a half against Perth before getting through three quarters against the Eagles WAFL side at the weekend as he builds fitness from pre-season knee surgery.

Ruckman Sean Darcy and midfielder Hayden Young are also closing in on returns from injuries after battling ankle and hamstring issues respectively.
