Spurred on by a parochial Geraldton crowd, East Fremantle have jumped into third on the WAFL ladder with a thrilling 19-point victory over Peel at Wonthella Oval.

A five-goal second quarter put the Sharks on top as Jonathon Marsh (13 disposals, two goals, five inside-50s) stood out with his marking skills

But it was his brother Harrison who was the stand-out on the day with 32 disposals and a goal) to help spark the fast start and set up the win.

The Sharks joined Peel on 36 premiership points but stole their spot in third thanks to a better percentage in the 13.6 (84) to 10.5 (65) win.

Sebit Kuek produced perhaps the biggest highlight of the day in the opening five minutes as he launched high above the pack to take a speckie on the wing and set up Josh Corbett for the opening goal.

But the Sharks responded from there and kept the Thunder at arm’s length despite several threatening fightbacks.

Peel’s Bell Blair did everything he could in a losing effort (24 disposals, eight tackles), while Docker Brady Grey impressed with 17 disposals. Fellow Docker Josh Draper was quiet on a return from injury with just nine touches.

Kyle Baskerville (27 disposals) continued his hot form as did Cameron Eardly (26 disposals) while SANFL transferee Fraser Turner had another big game with 26 disposals and one goal.

Matthew Jupp lifted the Josh Kennedy Foundation Cup while more importantly the Sharks gained a psychological edge with the two likely to meet again in the finals.
