West Coast Eagles defender Liam Duggan challenging for most famous haircut in AFL with glorious mullet

The West Australian
VideoDom Sheed has claimed West Coast's 2km time trial in testing heat.

For more than a decade Nic Naitanui has held the title of the most famous hair in Western Australia.

But his West Coast teammate Liam Duggan is challenging for the mantle if not having already taken it, with the defender’s beautiful mullet quickly gaining cult status amongst both Eagles fans and 1980s lovers.

Main St Barbers in Osborne Park shared a video on it’s Instagram page of Duggan waving his luscious locks around, accompanied appropriately by some AC/DC, after Naitanui tried to sabotage it by cutting off a piece, sharing the video on his page earlier this week.

Duggan’s mullet has been a feature since last season and he might want to keep it, with the hairstyle coinciding with a breakout season after getting a chance to play more midfield time because of injuries in 2020.

“There’s no real long term plan with this thing,” Duggan said on the mullet last year.

“I blamed isolation and quarantine and not being able to get a haircut. While I’ve got it, I’ve just seemed to run with it and enjoyed it.

“I didn’t mind it running off the half-back with the mullet. (Former West Coast defender) Mark Nicoski told me I should I grow it out and get back to his old days when he had his long locks flying off the half-back.”

Duggan was not the only one sporting a mullet at the Eagles last year, with Jake Waterman and Jackson Nelson also getting on board for a good cause - Mullets for Mental Health.

But it is Duggan who has taken it to the next level, with the Victorian native now making it a permanent feature of his image.

The ball, or comb as it were, is now in the hands of you Mr Naitanui.
