Experience bloomin’ glorious cherry blossoms in Japan on a Heritage Expeditions cruise

Family-owned and operated cruise line Heritage Expeditions has curated a voyage to celebrate Japan’s iconic cherry blossom season, and is offering discounted fares for earlybird bookings.
The New Zealand-based line’s commercial director and expedition leader Aaron Russ says the 12-day Cherry Blossoms of Japan Cruise from Tokyo to Osaka will explore the islands of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, cruise the Seto Inland Sea and visit Busan, South Korea.
“We plan to explore some of Japan’s iconic highlights alongside lesser-known and rarely-visited coastlines accessible only by expedition ship in true Heritage Expeditions style, including Japan’s famous art island Naoshima, historic Hiroshima, Miyajima’s famed floating Torii Gate, Mt Fuji and more, all framed by Japan’s famed cherry blossoms,” he said. “It really is a magical time to be exploring Japan.” Heritage is offering a 20 per cent off select cabins on fares booked by April 30, 2025. There are plenty of fare inclusions: pre and post-cruise transfers, hotel accommodation (as per the brochure), all shore excursions and activities along with a program of lectures by naturalists.

Aaron says the itinerary comes amid much guest interest to experience the cherry blossoms, or sakura, and hanami parties.
“Japan is rightly famous for its cherry blossoms and the incredible celebrations and festivals that surround sakura season and our guests really wanted to experience this with us,” he says.
Heritage Adventurer is a purpose-built expedition small ship with a “refined design”.
The Cherry Blossoms of Japan Cruise departs Tokyo on March 31, 2026, and prices are from $11,676 per person.
