We recently published a story about Empress Josephine’s Chateau de Malmaison near Paris and her interest in Australian plants and our black swans. And the Western Australian Museum has a digital exhibition called Empress Josephine’s Garden at the WA Maritime Museum on Victoria Quay, Fremantle, until February 9.

It has now also offering a Josephine’s Garden High Tea. It’s a tea party with a difference as it pairs the Empress Josephine’s Garden digital experience with delicious delights and an optional glass of sparkling wine.

A museum spokesperson explains: “Enter the world of Empress Josephine and her unique sanctuary at Malmaison through a cinematic digital journey. After you visit the exhibition, high tea awaits! Enjoy tiered platters of lovely petit-fours, including sweet and savoury treats and the finest teas for a truly delightful experience.” There’s a “bottomless teapot” from a selection of loose-leaf teas.

It is available on Sundays only, from Sunday, October 27, to Sunday, December 22, 2024. It is from 2.15pm to 4pm, with the exhibition viewing from 2.15pm to 3pm and high tea from 3pm to 4pm. Premium tickets (for 18+, with the glass of sparkling) are $75. Standard tickets are $65. Both ticket prices include admission to Empress Josephine’s Garden experience, a selection of sweet and savoury finger food and tea.
