Second person tried to convert stolen cash: Police
A second person has tried to exchange stolen foreign currency at the Commonwealth Bank in Geraldton, according to police.
Police allege a 24-year-old Mullewa man tried to convert several hundred NZ dollars on Friday – one day after a woman allegedly tried to convert stolen US currency.
The man was arrested and taken to Geraldton Police Station.
Police allege the man told police he was aware the money had been stolen, and that another man had handed him the currency in the days leading up to the failed exchange.
Police said the incident related to three separate burglary and stealing offences at a victim’s premises where foreign and Australian currency was stolen.
The man will appear before Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on May 7 charged with possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
A 38-year-old woman has been charged with unlawful possession and will appear before Geraldton Magistrate's Court on May 14.
