The Geraldton motocross season came to a thrilling conclusion under lights on Saturday night as hundreds of riders turned out for the Batavia Timber & Salvage Night Jam.

The special event is the only night event on the calendar and serves as the season finale with riders coming far and wide to compete across 12 divisions of racing.

Practice began at 3.30 pm with heats following before a shoot-out at 10pm brought a conclusion to the night and the season.

Club president Steve Harrison said plenty of hard work to had gone into the night.

“Our track team have put in countless hours to get this awesome track prepped and ready for racing and we brought in over 20 lighting towers so everyone could see the action,” he said.

“The event was a major success and events like these are only possible by the massive amounts of volunteer hours put in by all the helpers.”

Spectators lined the wall along the track and crammed into the trackside bar in the middle offering spectacular views of the action as the sun began to dip and the floodlights took over.

Racing was open from juniors to seniors with riders not only competing for the fastest time but also a $600 best whip competition ensuring there were plenty of aerial stunts and big air on show.

Results were not available in time for print.
