Jaeger O’Meara’s Freo shine as Blues, Eagles continue losing streaks in mixed weekend for Mid West AFL stars

Mid West product Jaeger O’Meara gave the region something to celebrate, as his Fremantle Dockers recorded a gutsy win over the Western Bulldogs in round four of the AFL. The Railways product missed his side’s opening win last week against West Coast due to illness, but walked straight back into the side for Sunday’s clash. Although he had less of an impact than his blistering start to the year, the 31-year-old contributed with 15 disposals and four tackles. While injuries threatened to swing momentum in the favour of the Bulldogs, Fremantle held their nerve to record the 16-point victory at Optus Stadium. Earlier in the week, Northampton product Patrick Cripps and his Blues fell to Collingwood, with the Carlton skipper having a quiet night compared to his usual lofty standards. The two-time Brownlow medallist was kept to just 16 disposals and a goal, with Carlton yet to get on the board in season 2025 despite having high hopes preseason. Sunday in Sydney was a bloodbath for the West Coast Eagles and its Mid West talent, with the Giants recording an 81-point victory. Ram Jamie Cripps was among the best for the Eagles despite the loss, kicking an equal-team high two majors, while fellow Mid West product Tyler Brockman was limited to seven disposals. Mid West talents are set to clash in a must-win game, as the Blues take on West Coast on Saturday when the competition heads to Adelaide for Gather Round. Both teams are winless after four rounds. Meanwhile, the Dockers will be looking to record a third-consecutive victory when they take on Richmond on Sunday.
