Foreshore a flurry of colour for health
The Geraldton foreshore will be transformed into a hub of colour and activity tomorrow when headspace Geraldton launches the Health Forum and Colour Rave.
Participants are encouraged to wear white and expect to be coloured as bombs of technicolour powder are launched back and forth against a backdrop of live music, food stalls and health service vendors.
The Health Forum and Colour Rave is the brainchild of the recently appointed Headspace youth ambassadors who have been tasked with spreading the message that it’s OK to talk about health issues.
Youth ambassador Rylie Petersen said the event was about getting people aged between 12-25 to engage with the wider community and exposing them to services that are on offer.
“It’s basically to help all the young people in the community and get them out of the house and participating,” he said.
One free colour bomb pack will be handed out on presentation of a ticket, with extras given to those who participate and engage with health service stations between 4pm and 5pm.
Music will be supplied by DJ Fatso with a live acoustic set from Geraldton songstress Issy Antonovich.
For those who want to keep up with the latest trends, Supre Geraldton will host a fashion parade.
Community engagement officer Reggie Richardson said the drug and alcohol-free event was made possible by local politicians Member for Durack Melissa Price and Agricultural Region MLC Paul Brown who answered the call for funding.
The Headspace Health Forum and Colour Rave is a free event.
It will start at 4pm at the central grassed area near the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre.
