It was another year to remember for Three Springs in the North Midlands Netball Association, with the club securing the sought-after senior double.

Runaway leaders at the top of the A-grade premiership table all year, Sulwyn Mutter’s side defeated Dongara in the semifinal before cruising to a 47-17 victory in the grand final over Carnamah, their fourth premiership in a row from their sixth consecutive grand final appearance.

A successful culture breeds more hunger for success across the board and this was reflected with additional premiership success in B-grade, 32-30 over Dongara.

Mutter said familiarity and togetherness played a major role in the club’s sustained success in the NMNA.

“We all (A and B-grade) train together as a group,” she said.

“It really helps a lot. In a few instances, we’ve needed B-grade players to play up and they have done really well.”

With a solid fitness regime and belief in her squad, Mutter added she was delighted at how her players could respond to any game situation.

“I like the girls to play fair and be consistent,” she said.

“I have confidence in our girls that they can dig their heels in if they have to during a game. I try to have them as fit as possible.

“We do our fitness work before our sessions. The girls don’t always like it at the beginning, but once they do it they enjoy it.”

Mutter praised the role of Deb Bone, best on court in the A-grade grand final, as the club’s B-grade coach.

“All of the players are local, apart from one girl who is Geraldton-based,” she said.

“It’s a really good group of nice girls.”
