Activ group ready for City to Surf

As long as this group of friends are together, they can tackle just about anything.

And that’s exactly what Robyn, Sharon, Roger, Clare, Amy and Sarah plan to do when it comes to this year’s WA Chevron City to Surf for Activ.

The six Activ accommodation clients are set to tackle the 4km walk in Geraldton’s leg of the race next month. Activ carer Jan Lynch said it would be no easy feat for the group, but they were just happy to be doing it as one.

“They’re really excited to not just be doing this for Activ, but for themselves as well,” she said.

“I honestly think they could be doing just about anything and be happy as long as they were all together. That’s what they’re most looking forward to, tackling the walk as a team.”

In the past 40-years the race for Activ has been the organisation’s biggest fundraising event to rally support for West Australian’s living with disability.

Individuals and teams of all sorts take part in the fundraising event.

It’s doing it all for Activ that makes the team proud to sport Activ’s blue and white shirt.

“We’re doing it all together. I’m really excited to be in the team and doing it for them and for Activ, ” Roger said.

“I’m excited to meet everyone else in the race. We also get to spend the day out together,” Sharon said.

The race brings almost 50,000 people to take part in the five events spanning the State from Karratha, Geraldton, Albany and Busselton along with the flagship race from the Perth City centre to City Beach.

The Chevron City to Surf for Activ in will be held in Geraldton on Sunday, August 2.

The rest will be held in Karratha on July 26, Albany on August 9, Busselton on August 16 and Perth on August 30.
