VideoAFL: Just two years after trading for him, the Dockers are set to trade Jesse Hogan to his third club with the forward requesting to be sent to the GWS Giants.

Fremantle should send Adam Cerra and a raft of draft picks to North Melbourne to secure “generational” WA forward Logan McDonald, former top AFL recruiter Matt Rendell says.

The Kangaroos currently hold pick two in the upcoming AFL Draft behind Adelaide, who are preparing to take South Australian big man Riley Thilthorpe with the prized top pick.

Rendell rates McDonald as the next man to go in the AFL Draft and says the Dockers need to trade away a big hand to nab the Perth Demons forward.

“(McDonald) finished (fourth) in the goal kicking in the WAFL for god’s sake in the seniors,” Rendell said on AFL Trade Radio.

“He’s a quality kid.

“Freo would have to come up with a deal that would get pick two out of North … So pick 12, their first rounder next year and maybe Adam Cerra, that would get it done.

“But maybe even 12 and Cerra gets it done because North is obviously looking for players.

“It’s certainly worth thinking about from both clubs. If North can get two or three players for one, they should be seriously thinking about it.”

Cerra, a Victorian junior taken with pick five in the 2017 AFL Draft, remains contracted at the Dockers until the end of 2021.

But Rendell says McDonald had showed he could step straight into an AFL line up, much like Eagles youngster Oscar Allen.

“Logan McDonald is a generational player as a key forward,” Rendell argued.

“I know there’s a few key forwards in this draft, but as a local WA kid, Oscar Allen wasn’t doing what (McDonald) is doing in his draft year and Allen has turned into a beauty.”

The Dockers are already heading into 2021 down one big forward, following confirmation Jesse Hogan will depart for GWS.

Fremantle currently hold picks 12 and 31 in the upcoming draft.

McDonald is a 196cm key forward and kicked 21 goals from nine games for Perth in the WAFL in 2020.
