Theatre lovers took to an aquatic centre rather than a stage to witness The Pool, a production that explores life as we know it while celebrating community in public spaces.

Playwright Steve Rodgers and artistic director Kate Champion have created the production in association with Perth Festival that invites people to sit poolside and get to know the characters using Bold Park Aquatic Centre.

The audience listen in on the cast—made up of Joel Jackson, Kylie Bracknell, Anna Gray and Edyll Ismail—through a personal headset and immerse themselves into their stories.

As part of the show’s finale, guests are invited to join the cast in the pool for a brief aqua aerobics session.

For more than 40 years Bold Park Aquatic Centre has provided the people of Perth with aquatic facilities surrounded by one of the largest urban bushlands remaining in the region.
